A book for every southern library!

An exquisitely photographed collection of the great houses and mansions of the South.
In the tradition of Rizzoli’s Historic Houses of the Hudson Valley and Great Houses of New England, Great Houses of the South features a stunning array of newly photographed homes that range over three centuries and are distinctive examples of the architecture of the region. While in popular imagination the "Southern Style" is embodied in the classic Southern plantation house with its Greek Revival detailing—its stately white columns, wide porch, and symmetrical shape—the houses themselves are much more various and engaging, as shown in this important volume. From stately Stanton Hall of Natchez, Mississippi, one of the most magnificent and palatial residences of antebellum America; to Longue Vue House and Gardens of New Orleans, the luxurious Classical Revival–style home of Edgar and Edith Stern; to the fabled Biltmore of Asheville, North Carolina, the opulent French Renaissance–inspired chateau and Gilded Age estate of George Washington Vanderbilt, this lavish volume is comprehensive in scope and a landmark work of enduring interest to homeowners, architects, architecture historians, and all those who love fine architecture.

Macon Restaurant....Must Try!

I must tell you that I have found a new restaurant in downtown Macon that is just a delight to the senses...Lemongrass Thai! We enjoyed a lovely evening with friends and started with a spring roll and a double tempura roll...just delish! The best part of the evening was the crab cakes! They were pan-seared 100% jumbo lump crab cakes with a nappa cabbage stir fry and a cool cucumber salad...double delish!!
Pair your selections with either
Thailand in a Glass (Van Gogh Vodka, Coconut Rum, Lime Juice, Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime Leaves, Fresh Ginger and a touch of Thai Chili Pepper) or a Lemongrass Champagne Mojito...I tried both and love them equally!!

Lemongrass is located on Cherry Street in downtown Macon and has outdoor seating so that you can enjoy the lovely spring weather!

This is a definate...MUST TRY!!

New Atlanta Restaurant Find!

While in Atlanta for Market last weekend I discovered a FABULOUS new restaurant called Miller-Union. They believe in the partnership between chef and farmer. Their menu is based around the week’s harvest; they take care to preserve the true flavors of the ingredients with a simple rustic preparation.

Owned by Steven Satterfield and Neal McCarthy, Miller Union’s unique dining space sits on the site once occupied by the Miller Union Stockyards and contributes to the revitalization of Atlanta’s dynamic Westside.

Located at 999 Brady Ave, Atlanta, GA 30318, Miller Union serves lunch Tuesday through Saturday 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday 5 to 10 pm and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11pm. On the third Tuesday of every month, we offer family-style Harvest Dinner.

I had the fried Gulf Oysters for a starter then for my entree I enjoyed the wild striped bass, english peas, carrots, turnips in a white wine broth. I must say this was by-far one of the best meals I have had in quite a while!! Lance was my server and he was just superb!

This is a definate "do-againer" as my husband likes to say!!
